The way parcels are meant to be sent

UPS

In 1907 Jim Casey borrowed 100 dollars from a friend to start the American Messenger Company in Seattle. Before becoming United Parcel Service in 1919 the company was called Merchants Parcel Delivery for a time.

Now with approximately 100,000 vehicles, 400,000 staff, 3000 worldwide operating facilities and 9 million customers, UPS sent almost 4 Billion parcels in 2011 which generated over 53 Billion US dollars in revenue.

United Parcel Service Inc is a parcel company providing services to 220 countries and territories making it the world's largest parcel delivery company as well as a leading provider of specialised logistics and transportation throughout the world.

In early 2012 UPS announced that it plans to purchase TNT Express for 6.8 billion US dollars.

While time definite parcel delivery is the primary business of UPS, many subsidiaries exist. UPS Capital offers financial services; UPS Freight offers overnight less-than-truckload freight delivery; and The UPS Store is a retail franchisor.

In addition to these subsidiaries, and many more, UPS also operates its own Airline, with an active fleet of 230 aircraft.
