TNT, or TNT NV, was officially founded in 1996; however you can go back to 1946 when TNT (Thomas Nationwide Transport) was founded in Australia, and even further back to 1752 when Statenpost was founded in the Netherlands and operated the national postal service.
By 2011 TNT operated the largest by air and road network in Europe, employed over 155,000 staff and made revenues of over 10 billion Euros. Though still operation it is expected that UPS will soon take over TNT Express which is the international courier division of TNT NV.
What remained of TNT NV following this demerger in 2011 was TNT Post, more commonly known as Koninklijke or TNT Post BV, which was the national postal company of the Netherlands and is now called PostNL.
TNT Express has its headquarters in Hoofddorp, Netherlands and delivers to over 200 countries while owning operations in 65. It employs over 77,000 staff and runs a fleet of over 30,000 vehicles.
In addition to these 30,000 vehicles TNT Express also operates 46 aircraft as part of TNT Airways, a subsidiary.
